For the second straight season, a couple of rivals, formerly from the Big 12, face off with at least one of them looking to lock up a spot in the SEC Championship as the No. 16 Texas Longhorns host the No. 3 Texas A&M Aggies on Friday, Nov. 28 at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin, Texas.
The game is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. EST and will be broadcast on ABC, SEC Network and ESPN Deportes. Last season, both squads had a shot to make the SEC Title Game with a win and Texas won on the road, 17-7, making the SEC Championship in its first season in the conference.
The undefeated Aggies have multiple paths to the SEC Championship, and could still get there with a loss, but the simplest way for Texas A&M to reach its first ever SEC Championship is a win over rival Texas. Quarterback Marcel Reed had three touchdown passes last week in a 48-0 win over Samford. Amari Daniels rushed for 106 yards and a score on nine carries while Ashton Bethel-Roman had two catches for 61 yards and two touchdowns, one of which was a 58-yarder. At 11-0 already, Texas A&M is practically a lock for the College Football Playoff, but a bye is still up for grabs with a finish in the top four.
Texas is likely too far back to make the CFP after starting the season as No. 1 in the nation, but an upset on Friday and a lot of help and the Longhorns might have an outside shot of sneaking back into the mix. Arch Manning has looked much better as the season has waned on, throwing for 389 yards and four touchdowns in last week’s 52-37 win over Arkansas. Parker Livingstone finished with 104 yards and a score on two catches while Emmett Mosley V and Ryan Wingo both had 81 yards. DeAndre Moore Jr. had three catches for 74 yards and each catch was a touchdown, the longest of which going for 46 yards.
