The Seahawks are 12-3 and control their own destiny for the No. 1 seed thanks to a comeback victory over the Los Angeles Rams last week in overtime, 38-37. Now Sam Darnold gets a shot at one of his former squads, looking to keep Seattle in place for the bye week after Darnold had that opportunity slip threw his fingers last season with the Minnesota Vikings, who lost a winner-take-all game for the NFC North title and No. 1 seed in Week 18. With a win Sunday, Seattle could end up matched up with the San Francisco 49ers next week in the exact same situation, also on the road.
The Panthers are 8-7 and could lock up the NFC South and their first playoff berth since 2017 with a victory and a Tampa Bay Buccaneers loss to the Miami Dolphins. If both of those things don’t happen, Bryce Young will lead Carolina into a road meeting with the Buccaneers next week where the division crown is on the line.
