The Cubs got on the board first in Game 1 with a Michael Busch leadoff home run, but the Brewers responded with 9 runs of their own before they recorded their first six outs and never looked back. While Chicago scored all of its runs on solo home runs, Milwaukee didn’t need a single long ball to pull off the 9-3 win. Only two Brewers had multiple RBI with left fielder Jackson Chourio leading the way with 3 thanks to a pair of singles with the bases loaded each time. Third baseman Caleb Durbin had 2-run single right before Chourio recorded his last RBI.
On Monday, Aaron Ashby will open the game for Milwaukee who is turning the contest over to the bullpen while Shota Imanaga gets the start for Chicago looking to redeem himself after he went just four innings and allowed 2 of the 3 runs in a 3-0 loss in Game 2 of the NL Wild Card round against the San Diego Padres.
