A couple of NL Central squads fighting for playoff positioning open up a three-game series on Friday, Aug. 15 when the Milwaukee Brewers visit the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati.
This Friday Night Baseball game is scheduled to start at 6:40 p.m. EDT and will be broadcast exclusively on Apple TV+. The Brewers lead the division at 76-44 and are starting to really pull away with not just the top record in the NL, but all of MLB. They’ve won 12 straight, running through the NL East trio of the Washington Nationals, Atlanta Braves and New York Mets before trouncing the NL Central bottom dwellers the Pittsburgh Pirates. There is a four-game set with the second-place Chicago Cubs at the start of next week, but entering Friday, Milwaukee has an eight-game advantage.
The Reds are third in the division, five games behind the Cubs and only half a game back of the New York Mets for the final Wild Card spot. Cincinnati just took two of three against the NL East-leading Philadelphia Phillies and also two of three in Chicago earlier this month, but between those impressive series wins was a split in a four-game series with the Pirates.
