Where ACC preseason poll predicts UNC to finish in Bill Belichick’s 1st year

The UNC Tar Heels begin a new era this fall with Bill Belichick as their coach. It’s unclear just how they’ll perform under the first-year coach, but members of the the ACC media predicted where the team will finish in its annual rankings.

The 2025 ACC preseason poll doesn’t have UNC finishing top 3, but the Tar Heels are in the top 10 at No. 8.

The Clemson Tigers are predicted finish atop the ACC, with the Miami Hurricanes at No. 2 and the SMU Mustangs at No. 3.

UNC will certainly have plenty of eyes on them this season. MAck Brown was fired by the Tar Heels in November and Belichick was hired a month later. UNC finished 6-7 last season.

Belichick has never coached at the college level, but his success in the NFL — which includes eight Super Bowl wins, six with the New England Patriots — speaks for itself. Whether it translates to the college level, though, remains to be seen.

Aside from a high-profile coach, many wonder what kind of role, if any, Belichick’s girlfriend Jordon Hudson will play. The 24-year-old has been seen by Belichick’s side throughout the offseason whether it’s accompanying him to interviews or on the sidelines at UNC.
