Tax season 2024 is ramping up around the country after the IRS opened its Free File on Friday, a couple weeks in advance of the season’s official start date at the end of January.
But things run a little differently in some parts of New England; namely, in Massachusetts and Maine, which can file a couple days later than the rest of the country due to holidays.
This year, Massachusetts will be one of 12 states participating in a new IRS pilot filing program.
