Following a stormy week of weather, Massachusetts could see a dry, sunny reprieve on the Fourth of July.
A cold air mass should then enter the region Thursday night, drying away any thunderstorm risks and rainy conditions ahead of the holiday, according to the National Weather Service.
Friday should see largely cooler, less humid conditions during the day, with overall sunny skies, forecasters said.
In Eastern Massachusetts, Boston, Somerville and Quincy should see a high of 83 degrees, Plymouth should reach 80, while Lawrence, Salem and Medfield should reach 81. Framingham should reach 82. Overnight lows across this part of the state should be in the low 60s.
Central Massachusetts communities should see similar conditions. Worcester and Leominster could reach 81 degrees, while Auburn hits 80. Paxton could see slightly cooler weather at 76 degrees, and Fitchburg and Warren should reach 79. Overnight lows could be cooler, either in the low 60s or in the high 50s.
Temperatures and conditions are not likely to be any different in Western Massachusetts. Yet again with sunny skies across the region, Springfield could reach a daytime high of 83 degrees, with Northampton at 82 and Amherst at 81. Pittsfield could be cooler at 76, along with North Adams at 77 and Great Barrington at 78. Again, overnight lows should be cool in the low 60s or high 50s.
These conditions are likely to continue going into Saturday, with forecasters anticipating warmer temperatures to return on Sunday. While conditions should be mostly sunny, temperatures are expected to climb back into the 90s and stick around until Monday.
It’s not until potentially Tuesday that more stormy, wet weather could make a comeback, forecasters said.
