What is open and closed on New Year’s Eve?

Time to ring in the new year. Some people will throw a big party on New Year’s Eve to celebrate 2025 with friends. Others will stay home on the couch watching TV all night until the moment the clock strikes midnight and they can head to bed.

Although New Year’s Eve may feel like a holiday because that’s when all the celebrating is happening, technically it’s not. That means if you forgot a bottle of wine or need to go to the mall to spend all those Christmas gift cards, just about every place is open Dec. 31.
