WESTFIELD – A public hearing on the percentages of the local tax levy for residents and businesses, also known as the tax shift or classification hearing, is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 21 at 6 p.m., immediately prior to the regularly scheduled City Council meeting.
The city has two tax rates, one for residents and one for businesses. The absolute dollar figure of the budget is in place, voted on in the budget in June. The public hearing will hear input from residents and businesses as to whether the tax rate should be shifted to either businesses or to residents.
