WESTFIELD – The city of Westfield, through its Office of Community Development, has begun preparation for its Five-Year Consolidated Plan that will dictate how the city allocates its Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and federal HOME program funds from 2025 through 2029.
As a part of the process, two listening sessions will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 9 at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. in City Hall. The purpose of the sessions is to gather public comment and input on affordable housing and community needs for consideration in the development of the Consolidated Plan.
This year, the city of Westfield plans to engage with local agencies who deal primarily with low-income and underserved populations, focusing on housing, health services, social services to children, the elderly, persons with disabilities, persons living with HIV/AIDS, and the homeless. Additionally, attention will be paid to municipal infrastructure including neighborhood roads, sidewalks, and playgrounds, broadband internet availability, and protection of flood-prone areas and water resources, Community Development Director Peter Miller said.
