WESTFIELD — The Westfield School Committee on Monday sent “a powerful message of support” for plans to build a multi-use stadium and renovate two other fields at Westfield High School.
Mayor Michael McCabe, who chairs the School Committee, said the city solicitor had told him the board did not need to vote on the $11.1 million project, which would be bonded and paid off using contributions from Westfield Gas & Electric if it is approved by the City Council. Nonetheless, he asked on May 20 if the School Committee wanted to take a non-binding vote. The vote was unanimously in favor.
