Westfield Planning Board places housing on back burner in annual workshop

WESTFIELD — Planning Board members found a few points of difference on how to encourage affordable housing at a recent brainstorming session.

Jay Vinskey, the city’s assistant director of planning and development, said Community Development Director Peter Miller asked the Planning Board to discuss accessory dwelling units, like accessory apartments or tiny houses in the backyard of existing properties. Westfield’s ordinances are “not really too creative with those right now,” he said.
