Westfield planners back business zoning for lots on Union St., Woodcliff Drive

WESTFIELD — The Planning Board is recommending that the City Council approve a zone change for a business property between Union Street and Woodcliff Drive.

The zoning proposal, which will appear on tonight’s City Council agenda and was taken up by the Planning Board at its Tuesday meeting, affects parts of two lots currently zoned Rural Residential, at 137 Woodcliff Drive and 254 Union St.

Rob Levesque of R. Levesque Associates said that the proposed Business B zoning would apply to the portions of the lots facing Union Street. Both lots face Union Street and extend back into the Woodcliff Drive residential area. A house used to stand on the 254 Union Drive lot but has been demolished. The land facing Union Street is flat, while the land bordering Woodcliff Drive is steeply sloped.
