WESTFIELD – The Westfield Little League Baseball 11-Year-Old All-Stars are simply perfect right now.

Westfield completed an unbeaten (3-0) run through the round robin portion of the district tournament Tuesday evening with a 6-2 win over Longmeadow at Ralph E. Sanville Memorial Field.

Through three games, Westfield outscored the competition 30-2.

Westfield plated one run in each of the first three innings to take a 3-0 lead in its latest effort against Longmeadow. Longmeadow bounced back with its only (two) runs of the game in the fourth inning before the Whip City’s all-star squad tacked on three more in the fourth.

Henry Cigal (walk, run, RBI), Bennie Madsen, Dylan Schortmann (walk, run), and Angel Villanueva (run) collected one hit apiece for Westfield. Jackson Krause and Luke Miller each walked and scored a run. Keaton Poth walked twice and scored one run. Brayden Getty walked twice and drove in a run.

Westfield starting pitcher Keegan Welch silenced Longmeadow’s bats, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits over four innings, while striking out seven and walking just one. Lennox Carmichael tossed two scoreless innings of relief. He allowed two hits, struck out four batters and walked none.

With the win, Westfield earned the top seed in the double-elimination portion of the tournament and will host the fourth seed Friday at Ralph E. Sanville Memorial Field at 5:30 p.m.
