Westfield council pledges Fire Dept. support after union warns of drastic cuts

WESTFIELD — Firefighter union members warned Feb. 1 that tight overtime budgets may require closing Fire Station 2, but city councilors doused that flareup immediately.

“I’m not sure what message they got. We are funding what you want and more — we’re giving you more than what you need. I’m not sure what the chief said to you,” Councilor James Adams said to the firefighters in the room.
