WELLESLEY – Wellesley field hockey head coach Erin Stickle was superstitious all year about the massive winning streak the program rolled out to take every regular season game after a five-goal loss to Walpole in the opener.
In the moments after the No. 3 Raiders (20-1) further extended that program-best streak Friday afternoon to 20 games with a 3-2 Division I state quarterfinal win over No. 6 Belmont, her players took those superstitions a bit further by declining to hold the Final Four trophy they just earned.
