Weather alert for lake effect snow in Berkshire County until early Friday

A weather alert was issued by the National Weather Service on Thursday at 11:47 p.m. for lake effect snow until Friday at 12:45 a.m. for Berkshire County.

“At 11:46 p.m., a lake effect snow band was along a line extending from near Cambridge to 6 miles southeast of Mechanicville to near Burnt Hills to near Johnstown and moving east at 40 MPH,” says the weather service.

Locations impacted by the alert include Bennington, Clifton Park, Saratoga Springs, Amsterdam, Gloversville, North Adams, Johnstown, Mechanicville, Hoosick Falls, Fonda, Glenville, Williamstown, Ballston Spa, Pownal, Grafton, Ephratah, Broadalbin, Hagaman, Mayfield and Stamford. This includes the following highways: Interstate 90 between exits 27 and 28. Interstate 87 between exits 8A and 13N.
