DOUGLAS COUNTY, CO — The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has released body camera and surveillance footage from a high-speed pursuit that ended a multi-county crime spree on October 11, 2023, Denver 7 reported.

“Our drones were able to respond and provided invaluable assistance during the apprehension of the suspects,” NYPD Commissioner Kaz Daughtry stated
The footage, released Aug. 19, shows deputies following the suspect in a vehicle pursuit until the suspect crashed into a convenience store, driving his vehicle partway through the doors. Surveillance video from the store shows the suspect, another person and a dog emerge from the vehicle before the suspect points a gun at officers.
As the officers standing outside the door instruct the suspect to raise his hands, the suspect fires shots at the officers. Officers return fire, striking him.
The suspect sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken into custody. No officers were injured, according to the report. The man, who was on parole at the time of the incident, had been involved in a statewide pursuit and had shot at officers from several different agencies over the course of several hours on the run.
“Our deputies put their lives on the line to bring a violent criminal to justice,” Sheriff Darren Weekly said in a news release. “This footage shows the reality of the dangers they face every day to protect our community, and I couldn’t be more proud of their dedication.”
