Video shows Mass. dog walker accused of animal cruelty roughly handling dog

Videos of an incident that has resulted in an animal cruelty charge against a Medford dog walker appear to show the man roughly handling a Golden Retriever and hurling racial slurs.

Medford police arrested 33-year-old Frederick Ingrando on Sunday after witnesses told them they had seen a dog walker hit one of the dogs he was walking in the head multiple times before lifting the dog off the ground by its collar “in a harmful manner,”police said previously. One of the witnesses provided police with video of the incident, which allowed them to identify Ingrando as a suspect.

Several videos of the incident were posted to Facebook on Sunday, and the video of Ingrando’s handling of the dogs shows him roughly holding a Golden Retriever as it struggles to stand on its hind legs. He can be heard repeatedly saying “Do not give me attitude about it,” to the dog during the video.

In the other two videos, Ingrando can be heard repeatedly hurling racial slurs at a Black man who appears to be trying to intervene on behalf of the dogs. The two go back and forth, swearing at one another, and at one point, the man asks the person taking the video if you can call police to report cruelty to animals.

“Why are you hitting the poor animals?” the man can be heard asking Ingrando.

All dogs in Ingrando’s care were confiscated by police Sunday and are awaiting pick-up by their owners, police said previously. The injured dog was taken to a veterinarian for evaluation.
