Video: Man shot at LAPD officers with air rifle before fatal OIS

LOS ANGELES —The Los Angeles Police Department released footage of an officer-involved shooting of a man who shot at officers with what were later determined to an air pistol and air rifle, NBC 4 Los Angeles reported.

The incident occurred Dec. 29 after officers responded to reports of an armed man at a motel, according to the report. Video shows the man in the parking lot yelling and pointing a weapon toward the street.

“You can’t kill me!” the man can be heard saying.

Officers encountered the man in the motel driveway, where he brandished two guns and shot at them. Officers returned fire, and the man retreated into the motel, refusing to surrender.

A SWAT team was called, and officers later found the man wounded at the bottom of a stairwell.

he man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the report. The LAPD stated that the air pistol and air rifle were both capable of “firing metallic rounds of ammunition,” according to a critical incident release.

The man has been charged with attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer and DUI with injury, according to the Grover Beach Police Department

Bystanders restrained the man, who was in his 80s and had no affiliation with the school event, until Pasadena Police officers arrived to detain him
