STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. — A quick-thinking police officer is being credited with preventing a potential disaster after using his patrol vehicle to push a burning car away from gas pumps at a Raceway station, FOX 5 reported.
Dashcam video released by the Stockbridge Police Department on April 11 shows Officer T. Hoffman arriving at the scene to find a vehicle fully engulfed in flames dangerously close to fuel pumps. Hoffman maneuvered his patrol unit to push the burning vehicle away, reducing the risk of an explosion.
Officials say the incident could have resulted in a much more serious situation if not for the officer’s swift action, according to the report.
“His swift, decisive action likely prevented a much more serious incident and protected everyone in the area from potential harm,” the department posted on Facebook.
Authorities have not released additional details about the cause of the fire or whether anyone was injured, according to the report. The incident remains under review.
