HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — A Florida deputy’s response to a 911 call turned into a heartwarming moment, CBS News reported.

Deputy Scott Pracht’s body camera footage, as well as doorbell footage from the home, shows the deputy knocking on the door before speaking to a woman outside.

“We had a 911 call,” Pracht says in the video.

The woman, realizing what happened, tells the deputy that she will go talk to her young son, who has a disconnected cell phone.

“To be honest, he doesn’t even know what 911 is,” the woman told Pracht.

When she called her son, he came to the door with his cell phone, which had made a 911 call.

“I wanted to give him a hug!” the boy said when asked why he called the police. He ran out the door and gave Pracht a hug.

“I know what’s your phone number — 911,” the boy said.

After giving the boy a hug, Pracht explained to him what 911 is and when to use it.

“Only in emergencies. And if you’re hurt, or someone else is hurt, your mom needs help. You know, someone is doing something they’re not supposed to do. Give us a call, okay?”

“Our deputies are more than willing to share a hug and spread love to children in our community. However, it’s essential for everyone to remember that 911 is a lifeline for emergencies,” Hillsborough Sheriff Chad Chronister said in a statement. “We are here to help, and we encourage parents and educators to teach children about the appropriate use of emergency services.”
