“At 6:43 p.m., Doppler radar tracked gusty showers along a line extending from near Grafton to near Chatham. Movement was northeast at 35 mph,” states the weather service. “Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects.”
Locations impacted by the alert include Pittsfield, Bennington, North Adams, Hoosick Falls, Chatham, Williamstown, Shaftsbury, Pownal, Stephentown, New Lebanon, Grafton, Berlin, Hancock, New Ashford, Averill Park, Berkshire, Hoosick, Ghent, Lanesborough and Canaan.
The weather service comments, “If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 10 p.m. for western Massachusetts, east central New York and southern Vermont.”
