Two-time Super Bowl winner calls Will Campbell the ‘perfect’ Patriot

FOXBOROUGH – Rodney Harrison has long been a fan of the Patriots taking Will Campbell with the No. 4 overall pick.

When it came to fruition Thursday night, the Patriots Hall of Famer couldn’t have been happier for the team.

Via text, Harrison called Campbell the “perfect Patriot” and credited Mike Vrabel & Co. for making that selection and prioritizing protection of Drake Maye.

“If I’m I’m trying to build a championship team it starts up front,” said Harrison, the two-time Super Bowl winning safety. “If you go get a tackle that can protect you’re young quarterback the next 4 or 5 years, and you bring in a locker room presence like Campbell, you can start building.”

Harrison pointed to some of the better teams in the NFL, and how they built their teams into contenders.

“Think about Detroit, and their success. You think about Philly, and their success,” Harrison said. “It’s all predicated on the O-line. For me, I’m not trying to build an all-athletic team. It all starts up front.

“If Drake Maye is getting his (expletive) kicked every game, you’re going nowhere. It has to start up front.”
