The Patriots did get a bit of good news Saturday.
They announced that running back TreVeyon Henderson had cleared the NFL’s concussion protocol.
Henderson suffered a head injury during the playoff-clinching win over the Baltimore Ravens last week.
The second-round pick was spun down backwards and tackled by Baltimore safety Alho Gilman. Henderson slammed his head hard on the field inside M&T Bank Stadium before leaving for the locker room and was eventually ruled out by the Patriots.
Henderson was one of three Patriots players to enter the concussion protocol this week. He was joined by receiver Kayshon Boutte and left guard Jared Wilson.
Boutte and Wilson have already been ruled out for Sunday’s matchup with the Jets.
Unlike Boutte and Wilson, there were early signs during the week that Henderson, the team’s top rusher (776 yards, 7 TDs) was progressing faster than his teammates.
Henderson initially wore a red non-contact jersey during practice early in the week, before removing that for Friday’s practice.
So it would appear the electric back will be active for the division matchup at MetLive Stadium.
In other news, the Patriots are now listing fullback Jack Westover as questionable with an illness.
