Travis Kelce had to fact-check Taylor Swift when she broke Chiefs draft news to him

Taylor Swift didn’t know a lot about football before she started dating Travis Kelce. She wasn’t sure what a first down or the chain gang was.

But Swift became a big fan after she started dating Travis Kelce in 2023. So big, in fact, that the 14-time Grammy Award winner broke some news about the Kansas City Chiefs to Kelce.

Swift revealed on the Kelce brothers’ “New Heights” podcast that she was tuned into the 2024 NFL Draft when the Chiefs drafted Xavier Worthy.

“I became like a person who was running through the halls of my house screaming, ‘We just drafted Xavier Worthy,’ and my friends were like, ‘Who body snatched you? What do you mean we drafted Xavier Worthy?,’” she said.

Kelce revealed he had no idea that had happened and Swift was the first person to break the news to him.

“I was like, ‘Wait is she right? I’m going to have to look this up. Did she get the wrong information here?,’” Kelce said.

But Swift was right. The Chiefs acquired the Buffalo Bills’ first-round pick and took Worthy in the first round.

In his rookie season for the Chiefs, Worthy caught 59 passes for 638 yards and six touchdowns. In three playoff games, the wide receiver amassed 19 receptions for 287 yards and three touchdowns in three games.

Swift announced her 12th studio album on the podcast, “The Life of a Showgirl,” will be available on Oct. 3.
