Tractor-trailer rollover causing delays on Mass. Pike in Charlton

A tractor-trailer rolled over on the Massachusetts Turnpike Wednesday morning, causing delays that are expected to last through the morning commute, state transportation officials said.

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation first notified drivers of delays on the Pike at 3:53 a.m., writing on X that the rollover had closed the two left lanes on the eastbound side of the highway.

“Closure is expected to remain in place through morning commute,” MassDOT wrote.

But just two minutes later, MassDOT wrote that a tractor-trailer rollover on the westbound side of the highway had forced the closure of the two left lanes there.

All eastbound lanes on the highway reopened around 7 a.m., but residual delays were expected. Traffic on the eastbound side was backed up for miles as of around 8 a.m.

It was not clear when the lanes on the other side of the highway might reopen.
