Town Meeting to consider leasing part of Russell school to Hilltown Health

RUSSELL — Selectmen will ask voters on Tuesday to let them lease half of Russell Elementary School to the Hilltown Community Health Center.

The vote on whether to open lease negotiations will be the main topic of discussion at a Special Town Meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29, in the gymnasium at the former school, 155 Highland Ave., Russell. All registered voters in town can participate and vote.

Selectmen Chair Thomas Kulig said the healthcare and community nonprofit has expressed interest in occupying half of the town-owned building, which is currently mostly vacant. According to the text of the warrant article, the town can negotiate a lease of up to five years. It would be up to selectmen to agree to the terms of the lease.
