The Worcester Red Sox scored first and never looked back, as they defeated the Durham Bulls by a final score of 5-2 on Tuesday night.
Nick Sogard recorded three of Worcester’s nine combined hits in the leadoff position, while Kristian Campbell finished 2-for-5 with one run scored to help the Red Sox improve to 65-61.
Starting pitcher Kyle Harrison allowed two hits, one earned run, and struck out two in three innings, while Wyatt Olds struck out three in two scoreless innings of relief to earn his third season win.

It didn’t take Worcester long to reach the scoreboard, as Sogard led off the game with his fifth season home run to right field for a distance of 374 feet.
But Durham’s offense wasn’t blanked, as the home team earned runners on first and third base as Tanner Murray approached the plate in the bottom of the second inning. Moments later, though, both runners advanced 90 feet as Harrison was called for a balk, which allowed Tristian Peters to help the Bulls even the score at 1-1.
The momentum was short-lived for Durham, however, as Mikey Romero (run-scoring double) and Nathan Hickey (sacrifice fly) helped the Red Sox move ahead with two more runs during the top of the third inning. And then Phillip Sikes singled home Tyler McDonough to make it 4-1 in favor of Worcester during the top of the sixth inning.
Despite a solo home run from Durham’s Richie Palacios during the bottom half, Seby Zavala countered with his eighth blast in the top of the ninth inning to make it a three-run difference.
Zack Kelly then tossed a scoreless ninth inning to earn his third save for the Red Sox. Worcester and Durham will continue its series against each other at Durham Bulls Athletic Park on Wednesday at 6:35 p.m.
