Through this cannabis nonprofit, a clean record and a rare 2nd chance

As a teenager growing up in Lawrence, Daniel Vazquez was arrested nearly a dozen times, most often for selling marijuana. His juvenile record would chase him for years.

But through a Boston nonprofit’s workforce development program, Vazquez has sealed his case files and is now employed at a new cannabis cultivation facility in Lowell, joining more than 20,000 other people working in Massachusetts’ young but growing marijuana industry.
