There are ways around ‘flawed’ affirmative action decision, Healey says at Amherst talk

In a visit to Amherst College focused on the topic of public service, Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey spoke about the “flawed” and “misguided” U.S. Supreme Court decision to end affirmative action.

“It was really a terrible Supreme Court decision and flawed, misguided — it was one we unfortunately anticipated,” Healey said. “It is also the case that I think we need to double down on other kinds of innovations and investments and this really gets to dealing with the pipeline of students and specifically making sure there are things like early education and childcare.”

Healey also touched on how her administration formed an advisory council to advance representation in education ahead of the Supreme Court decision to ensure Massachusetts is inclusive of underrepresented students in higher education.
