The Grateful Mug brews more than coffee: A new chapter in community, inclusion in Harwich

The Harwich Chamber of Commerce announced a new partnership with The Grateful Mug, a collaboration that represents the best of what community has to offer — connection, opportunity and inclusion.

The partnership underscores a shared commitment to nurturing local talent and preparing future employees for meaningful roles within the Cape Cod business community.

The Grateful Mug, set to become a cornerstone within the Harwich Information Center located at 1 Schoolhouse Road in Harwich Port, will offer more than just coffee and pastries.

Visitors will experience firsthand the spirit of collaboration and sustainability that defines Harwich.

In addition to enjoying a warm beverage, guests can pick up beach and transfer station access stickers from the chamber, as well as information on member businesses, making it a one-stop hub for both locals and tourists.

What sets The Grateful Mug apart, however, is its mission. The café is dedicated to providing meaningful employment for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, fostering a workplace built on respect, support and inclusion.

This initiative not only helps team members develop essential job skills, but also encourages them to feel valued as integral members of the community.

“Diversity enriches every aspect of life,” says Shana Grogan, founder of The Grateful Mug.

The staff is a vibrant blend of individuals who share the goal of creating genuine connections through excellent service. Every cup of coffee and every friendly exchange is infused with a spirit of gratitude, reminding visitors that inclusion and kindness can be part of everyday experiences.

With the Harwich Chamber of Commerce, The Grateful Mug is redefining what it means to do business on Cape Cod, by building a future where everyone belongs and has a chance to thrive.
