Bill Belichick is known to catch a Bruce Springsteen or Bon Jovi show every now and then, but isn’t known for being big on concerts. However, the New England Patriots coach did confirm that he caught a little bit of Taylor Swift’s stop at Gillette Stadium this summer.
During his Monday appearance on WEEI, Belichick said he saw a little bit of one of Swift’s shows when the Eras Tour came through town. Belichick noted that he was “impressed” by the music star soldiering on through the rain that soaked one of her shows during the stop.
“Yeah, saw a little bit of Taylor,” Belichick said of Swift performing in the rain. “That was pretty impressive. She’s tough, man. She just got out there and played right through.”
Belichick was asked if he was officially a “Swiftie.”
“Officially? I don’t know about that. I don’t know what officially is. What does that mean, like you have a sweatshirt or something?” Belichick said.
“Look, I’m definitely in on the, ‘You gotta calm down.’ That’s pretty good. Like, ‘You gotta calm down,’” Belichick added, referencing Swift’s 2019 song, “You Need to Calm Down.”
With that said, Belichick’s wheelhouse remains with his New Jersey rockers.
“When I was with the Giants, it was Bruce and Bon Jovi. You’ve got the two Jersey guys at the top and probably still are. But always great to see Jon and Bruce in action. Sure to bring a lot of energy, get the whole place rocking, ‘Dancing in the Dark.”
