WESTFIELD — A local resident has raised $3,600 for the Westfield Food Pantry following a tag sale fundraising effort last month.
Resident Annie Hotchkiss told the Westfield News the idea to take her tag sale and turn it into a fundraising effort came after hearing news of federal cuts impacting local food pantries.
In April, the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts received notice of its first federal funding cut this year which was that the United States Department of Agriculture cancelled some food deliveries to the Food Bank through August, amounting to approximately $440,000 worth of food.
