A man has been arrested after police said he followed a woman into her North End home last week and sexually assaulted her.
Cornelius Williams, 34, of Boston has been charged with indecent assault and battery and assault with intent to rape, according to the Boston Police Department.
Williams was arrested on Monday night, police said. He is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court on Tuesday.
The incident happened at around 10:53 p.m. on Margaret Street in the North End neighborhood.
A woman was entering her home when police said Williams came up behind her and sexually assaulted her inside her residence. He then ran from the building on foot.
Residents of the Margaret Street apartment building said they saw surveillance footage that showed a man following the woman into the building, WCVB reported.
The man grabbed her by the feet when the woman reached the top of the stairs.
Then, he started licking her feet, the outlet reported.
The woman’s screams scared the man away, her neighbors said, and the footage showed him running off on Margaret Street.
