Star corner, rookie receiver on Patriots’ Week 1 injury report

For those eagerly awaiting the start of football season, another milestone arrived on Wednesday — the first Patriots’ injury report of the 2025 season.

Not surprisingly, Christian Gonzalez, whose hamstring has been the subject of concern and speculation since it happened weeks ago, was a non-participant.

Patriots coach Mike Vrabel was asked about his status earlier in the day and offered only a limited information.

“We’ll continue to work and treat and do everything we can to help him to get back out on the field,” Vrabel said. “But he’s doing everything he can to get back out on the field. That’s the only update I have right now.”

Vrabel praised his approach.

“I do like where he’s at from an engagement standpoint,” Vrabel said. “I’ve been through this with other players. I like where he’s at from that standpoint. In the meetings, he’s locked in. … Following along in practice, (it’s) difficult to think a player that’s not in there can follow along. I’ve been through that as a player and a coach. And I think he’s done a nice job of doing that.”

Charles Woods, who is battling the rare concussion-groin injury combination, was a limited participant for the Patriots and Efron Chism III’s injured knee didn’t prevent him from being a full participant.

No other Patriots were on the list.

For the Raiders, cornerback Kyu Blu Kelly and backup quarterback Kenny Pickett are both battling hamstring injuries, but both were full participants heading into Sunday’s 1 p.m. game at Foxborough.
