SPRINGFIELD — Ahead of Springfield Restaurant Week, being held this year from June 6-15, the city’s Business Improvement District offered an early look at the deals and specials restaurants will be serving up.
The media preview event was held at the Springfield Marriott on May 21, and several of the 23 restaurants signed up to participate came out to offer up a bite of what they’ll be serving to the public in June.
On hand was the Student Prince Cafe and Fort Restaurant, 8 Fort St., serving up house-made potato pancakes;
Panjabi Tadka, 1688 Main St., offering chicken tikka masala, white rice and naan bread;
Bridge22 Restaurant & Bar, 2 Boland Way, offering samples of its “Blue Skies Mocktail,” a Bridge22 Burger, and short rib Bolognese;
Jen’s Organics, 1500 Main St., offering two freshly made drink samples;
Costa, located within MGM Springfield, offering its signature meatballs with pomodoro sauce and garlic streusel, as well as rigatoni Bolognese;
White Lion Brewing Company, 1500 Main St., offering garlic parmesan chicken wings and hot honey-glazed brussels sprouts.
New to Springfield Restaurant Week, Boricua Bites – a restaurant serving up fast-casual Puerto Rican cuisine from 1030 State St. – offered mofongo bowls (fried and smashed plantains) with a choice of chicken or steak and a special sauce drizzled on top.
“Dine Springfield Restaurant Week is a celebration of the diverse and dynamic food scene we have right here in the heart of Springfield. From June 6th to 15th, we’re inviting residents and visitors alike to explore local restaurants, try curated menus at special prices, and support the small businesses that help define our city’s culture and character,” said Samantha Savoie, Marketing and Creative Services Director for the Business Improvement District.
“This initiative not only highlights culinary talent but also drives foot traffic, energizes our downtown, and reminds us that Springfield is a place to gather, connect, and enjoy great food,” she added.
