SPRINGFIELD — When Alex Bloom, 38, opened Wash Works in Springfield, he wasn’t sure if anyone would show up for the grand opening of his new laundromat in the Old Hill section of the city.
“The laundromat we took over was closed and rundown,” he said in an interview. “It was a challenge getting people to realize we’re open and remodeled — this is a completely different store than what people were used to.”
