SPRINGFIELD — The city embraced the International Women’s Day theme of education by honoring its first women superintendent, two education union presidents and, for the first time, a female student leader.
The Springfield Women’s Commission annual celebration of female leaders tries to follow the international theme and this year it fit perfectly with what members wanted to do, said City Councilor Kateri Walsh, chairwoman of the group.
