SPRINGFIELD — The City Council agreed to pay $3.37 million to a man whose conviction for the rape of an elderly woman was overturned after he served 30 years for the crime.
Councilors voted 7-0 Tuesday to settle a federal suit with George Perrot, who charged that police fabricated evidence and suppressed and destroyed other information, which sent him to prison at the age of 17.
