HOLYOKE — A delegation of 33 officials from Holyoke marched in the St. Patrick’s Day parade of Tralee, Ireland, Monday, a gesture that some hope will result in more collaboration in the future.
Holyoke Mayor Joshua Garcia, the parade’s grand marshall, rode in a cream-colored antique car next to Tralee Mayor Mikey Sheehy. Members of the Holyoke delegation followed behind, waving Irish and American flags and handing out high-fives, according to Stephen Fay, Garcia’s aide. Some wore scarves made from Holyoke St. Patrick’s tartan, the plaid design that draws inspiration from the colors of Paper City’s schools.
