SOUTHWICK — At first glance, Valerie Chu, the Southwick Regional School valedictorian, appears to be a typical teenager who enjoys video games, has a part-time job, and is just a bit awkward.
But not many typical teenagers score a perfect 1,600 on the SAT. That puts her in an exclusive group of roughly 300 students, worldwide, who score in the 99th percentile each year on the college entrance examination taken by over 2 million students.
