LUDLOW – The Easthampton Girls “B” Division soccer team finished a perfect regular season by scoring a goal with three seconds remaining to escape with a 1-1 tie against Southwick. Nine days later, Southwick capped off its own perfect ending, of sorts, becoming the first team to hand Easthampton its first loss of the season – and it came in the final game of the postseason.
Colleen McIntyre knocked in the game-winner, scoring off a pass from Lorelai Whalley in the 49th minute and No. 2 Southwick held off No. 1 Easthampton for a 1-0 win in the Pioneer Valley Summer Soccer League Girls “B” Division championship Saturday, August 3 at Lusitano Stadium in Ludlow.
