SOUTHWICK — While the questions the Select Board will use to vet applicants to open a recreational marijuana dispensary in town haven’t been finalized, the board agreed this week that it will make the decision on which applicants will be asked to negotiate a host community agreement.
“Who’s going to review the applications?” board member Diane Gale asked the board during its meeting Tuesday night, before she said what other municipalities have done when faced with a situation of having more applicants than permits available.
When Town Meeting voters approved the zoning bylaw to establish regulations for recreational marijuana retailers to open in town, it also limited the number of permits to two. So far, there are five applicants interested in opening a marijuana retail shop in Southwick.
