Southwick agrees to mediation in Dollar General developer’s permit appeal

SOUTHWICK — The town and Connecticut-based Calito Development Group have agreed to mediation to resolve two lawsuits filed by the developer after the Planning Board denied it a special permit to build a Dollar General store on College Highway.

“I think that a mediated resolution is in the best interests of all the parties and hopefully will lead to reasonable resolution,” said Michael Pill, the Northampton-based attorney who filed the two lawsuits in early July on behalf of Calito.

Southwick Chief Administrative Officer Nicole Parker confirmed Monday that the Select Board had agreed to the mediation. Both said because mediations are confidential, they could not comment further.
