*A little more than a month from now, baseball’s trade deadline will be here and the Red Sox will have some big decisions to make. The buy-or-sell option has never seemed so complicated.
Of course, a lot can happen in a month. When you look at the Red Sox schedule coming out of the All-Star break — nine straight against playoff contenders: the Cubs, Phillies and Dodgers — there’s no guarantee they’ll be anywhere near contention. That would make for an easy call for chief baseball office Craig Breslow, who would presumably auction off everything that’s not nailed down at Fenway.
