Snow showers to overtake dry weekend in Mass. with freezing rain ahead

Snow showers may dust Massachusetts over the weekend before a band of freezing rain hits the state early next week.

Temperatures will be in the 20s statewide on Saturday under sunny skies, according to National Weather Service forecasters.

The Berkshires will be at 21 degrees with the wind chill at -1, while Springfield could hit a high of 29 degrees. Highs in Worcester will be 27 degrees, with Boston at 21 and Cape Cod & the Islands around 23 degrees.

There is a chance for snow showers to spread from east to west across all of Massachusetts late Saturday into early Sunday, starting between 1 and 3 a.m. on Sunday morning and ending by 9 a.m.

However, accumulations should be less than an inch statewide.

Forecasters are eyeing the chance for more snow showers on Sunday night that are projected to be just another dusting, with freezing rain possibly on the way Tuesday night.

Chances of precipitation on Tuesday were around 50% on Friday evening, according to the Weather Service.
