Significant weather could impact Patriots-Jets game

The weather on Sunday could prevent actual jets from taking off in New Jersey. How will it affect the New York Jets, who host the New England Patriots at 1 p.m. at MetLife Stadium in northern New Jersey remains to be seen.

According to the National Hurricane Center, a Tropical Cyclone is headed up the east coast and could impact the Mid-Atlantic Sunday morning and afternoon.

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, a Tropical Cyclone is:

“A tropical cyclone is a warm-core low pressure system, without any front attached, that develops over the tropical or subtropical waters and has an organized circulation. These include hurricanes and typhoons.”

More simply the potential exists for a lot of wind and a lot of rain that could affect passing and kicking for both teams and travel to MetLife Stadium for anyone attending the game. Lightning is rare in a tropical cyclone so delays are less likely.

The Jets have rushed 44 times for 236 yards, a 118.0 yards per game average that’s 12th in the NFL heading into Week 3. The Patriots, who have been playing from behind most of the first two games have averaged 82.0 which is 27th in the NFL.

Buffalo at Washington and Indianapolis at Baltimore, which are both 1 p.m. games, could also be affected.
