Two beaches were closed in Massachusetts Sunday after sharks were seen attacking seals nearby.
White Horse Beach and Long Beach in Plymouth had red flag warnings Sunday, which means the beaches were closed to swimming. The sharks were seen off Manomet Point.
“Due to the confirmed nature of the sighting, beaches will remain closed to swimming until the red flag is lifted,” Plymouth’s Facebook page read.
It was the last day for seasonal staffing at the beaches. However, it’s common for sharks to be seen through October.
There have been dozens of shark sightings along the coast of Massachusetts in the past week, according to the shark-tracking app run by the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy, Sharktivity.

One of the sharks detected was Lindsey Loo. The more than 9-foot shark was near Nauset Beach in Orleans on Sept. 13. She was first tagged in October 2023 and has been detected more than 3,000 times.
