Strong to severe thunderstorms with large hail and damaging winds are possible across Massachusetts Wednesday.
“The primary threat is large hail, but damaging wind gusts are possible especially across western MA and northern CT,” the National Weather Service wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
On Tuesday afternoon, Massachusetts had a marginal risk of severe thunderstorms. By Wednesday morning, the Storm Prediction Center maps show the storm has moved south. But there is still a risk of thunderstorms in the area.
The Berkshires remain under a hazardous weather outlook.
“A few thunderstorms may be capable of producing damaging wind gusts and one inch diameter hail,” the weather service warns.
Rain is likely by 7 a.m. with thunderstorms continuing throughout the day.
Western and Central Massachusetts will see rain starting around 8 a.m. and it is expected to continue throughout the day with possible thunderstorms.
The first round of thunderstorms will be in the morning with another round in the afternoon, the weather service predicted.
Boston and Cape Cod are expected to get rain starting around 9 a.m. with possible afternoon thunderstorms.
